Pelisor Castle was built between 1899 and 1903 from King Carol I wish, as residence of his heirs Ferdinand and Maria, by the Czech Architect Karel Liman, expressing the Art Nouveau in Romania.
The Furniture and the interior decorations, have been realized by Bernhard Ludwig, and indicate a residential space (hall, work office, chapel, “the golden room”), tributary to the artistically innovative movements from the beginning of the 20 th century.
The collections include Romanian and European paintings (19th -20 th century); diverse styles furniture, realized in harmony with the interiors, ceramic pieces and porcelain, signed glassware ( Galle, Daum, Tiffany); decorations; interior decorative pieces.
The entire atmosphere breathes the eclectic taste and the original ideas of one of the late romantics of that time, as Queen Maria was named by the American historian Hannah Pakula.
